What can I use as a substitute for pimento in a recipe?

I have some recipes that call for pimiento. What can I use as a substitute as they can be hard to get where I live.
Ingredient selection and use peppers   pimento   pimiento   substitute

A pimiento, pimento, or cherry pepper is a variety of large, red, heart-shaped chilli pepper that measures 7 – 10 cm long and 5 – 7 cm wide. The flesh of the pimiento is sweet, succulent, and more aromatic than that of the Red Capsicum (bell pepper). Some varieties of the pimiento type are hot,

  • Red Capsicum can be used in place or as a substitute for fresh pimentos.
  • You can also use Roasted Piquillo Peppers ( available at Coles or Woolworths)
